Leslie Smart is the president of CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundations. Prior to this role she served as the executive director of philanthropy for the Children's Hospital Foundation where she supported a $208 million campaign for Norton Children's Hospital. She championed an autism project that garnered national publicity on Good Morning America and The Ellen Show. She has been engaged in volunteer and professional leadership as a consultant for over 28 nonprofits in Kentucky.

Smart recently earned the 2020 Yearling of the Year Award from the Rotary Club of Lexington and received the 2011 Frank W. Penick Founders Award for Excellence in Fundraising Excellence from the AFP Greater Louisville Chapter and was named the 2006 Alumna of the Year from the University of Louisville’s Communication Department. She is a past two-term President of the Greater Louisville Chapter of AFP and is a Kentucky Colonel. She is a member of the Leadership Lexington Class of 2021 and is a graduate of Leadership Kentucky 2017 and Leadership Louisville 2013. She is a recent past board member of the Kentucky Opera and the Louisville Ballet and currently serves on the boards of Leadership Kentucky and the New Opportunity School for Women.

She is married to John Smart and has two grown children, Charles and Emily.
