Gail Summers
St. John's Healthcare Foundation

Gail Summers is the Vice President of Philanthropy of St. John’s Healthcare Foundation leading the fundraising and development operations in support of St. John’s Hospitals (Camarillo and Oxnard). With more than 20 years’ experience in global health care and higher education, she oversees fundraising and support staff, while serving as lead with board and community leaders in growing financial and public relations support for the hospitals.
Prior to joining St. John’s, Gail held the position of Director of Development at the UCLA Stein Eye Institute in Los Angeles. Through her leadership the Institute raised more than $103 million as part of the university’s Centennial Campaign.
Gail has held executive positions in the medical device and ASC industries, where she worked closely with physicians and surgeons. She honed her consultative sales skills during her time as a fine art consultant in New Orleans and Beverly Hills selling 18th and 19th century paintings and antiques.
Gail’s personal and professional development experience includes a heavy emphasis on cultural immersion experiences to understand business in a global context, with a special focus on the developing nations of Latin America, Africa and Asia.
A native Oklahoman, Gail has spent more than two decades in Southern California, where she completed her MBA from Pepperdine University. She also completed her bachelor’s degree in history, with honors, from the University of New Orleans. Gail has lived abroad and worked abroad, is passionate about foreign travel and exploring other cultures.
