The Concert for Humankindness

Chicago, Ill. (September 22, 2021) – On Tuesday, September 21, 2021, CommonSpirit Health Foundation hosted the Concert for Humankindness. We are happy to report that this virtual event raised roughly $1.05 million to support health equity in the communities we serve!

The free concert was sponsored by our national foundation and the donors who walk alongside caregivers and staff in support during the COVID-19 global pandemic. The first-ever Concert for Humankindness, held on World Gratitude Day, was meant to celebrate each CommonSpirit employee and supporter and your commitment to saving lives.

In response to the nation’s urgent call during COVID-19, each of you stepped forward to lead selflessly over the last 18 months. We hope the concert served as one way to say “thank you” for your continued commitment to the health and safety of our communities.

Many employees made additional gifts to our foundation during the concert, some with heartfelt notes of gratitude and celebration included. We are humbled and thankful for this continued support.

Fourteen different sites throughout our ministry participated in this event and 5,400 people - many of them our employees and friends -- joined us as celebrity emcee Howie Mandel narrated our story of gratitude and kindness. Grammy-nominated and awarded performers such as En Vogue, Vanessa Williams, Keb’ Mo’, Straight No Chaser, The Piano Guys, Kristin Chenoweth and others lent their voices in support of each of you and our health equity efforts across CommonSpirit Health.

COVID-19 illustrated to the world that our communities are only as safe and healthy as the most vulnerable among us are protected. CommonSpirit Health’s ability to impact the health of the nation is profound, but we cannot do it alone. Employees will hear more in the coming weeks and months about the work of CommonSpirit Health Foundation to address health equity.
