CommonSpirit Health Again Recognized Among Top Performing Health Care Fundraisers by the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy

Chicago, Ill. (December 22, 2020) – CommonSpirit Health has again been ranked among the top high-performing health care fundraisers in North America by the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP). CommonSpirit was recognized for achieving both the “High Performer: Overall” and “High Performer: Healthcare System” status as a part of the AHP 2020 Report on Giving. In the 2020 Report (representing data from fiscal year 2019) AHP had 154 respondents from the U.S. and 24 respondents from Canada.

Overall high performers represent AHP’s traditional criteria of the top 25 percent in net production revenue across all respondents in the 2020 Report on Giving. In fiscal year 2019, these high performers raised more than $19 million in the U.S. and more than $12.9 million in Canada.

High performers in the health care system category represent those that reached the top 25 percent in net fundraising revenue out of all participating healthcare systems in the 2020 Report on Giving. In fiscal year 2019, these high performers raised more than $37.8 million in the U.S.

The Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) is an international professional organization dedicated exclusively to development professionals who encourage charity in health care organizations. AHP's 4,500 members represent more than 2,200 health care facilities around the world. They collectively raise more than $11 billion each year for community health services.

CommonSpirit Health has 80+ affiliated fundraising entities located across the U.S. Over the past five years, these foundations have raised a combined $1 billion in areas including addressing health equity and the social determinants of health, preventing and responding to human trafficking and opioid abuse, and uniting against violence.

With these funds, our fundraising entities enhance the lives of people in the communities we serve by supporting hospital initiatives such as the expansion of emergency departments, purchases of state-of-the-art equipment, training and recruitment of doctors and nurses, administration of patient well-being programs, and procurement of educational outreach sponsorships—just to name a few.

We do this nationally through CommonSpirit Health Foundation, and locally through our network of regional and community-based fundraising entities.
