Disaster Relief Fund

In times of tremendous hardship — whether natural or caused by the tragic actions of humans — we want to respond quickly and help our communities heal. That’s why CommonSpirit Health Philanthropy established the Disaster Relief Fund to help our ministry act promptly and compassionately to support those in need.

In 2020, as California’s historic wildfires burned perilously close to Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, Calif., the CZU Lightning Complex fire displaced thousands from their homes, including many hospital employees and their families. Three years earlier, Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas as a devastating category four storm. Areas of the state, including those surrounding St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston were flooded by record-breaking rain.

Hardship and adversity can strike our communities at any moment. In California, Texas or wherever the need exists, donor support enables us to respond quickly to provide aid to those in need and to apply the power of our healing ministry as survivors move forward to rebuild their lives.
